Got a legal problem? What can you do?

Here are some ideas:

  1. Get the relevant facts together. Facts solve problems. Maybe you could write out a timeline?

  2. Once you have the facts, it’s often helpful to make a realistic appraisal of your case. While most disputes don’t get to court, the outcomes often reflect what would happen there.

  3. Anyone who engages with the legal system has to deal with issues concerning cost, risk, and timing. The key is to face these issues head on, so that you end up with a real strategy to navigate the system.

  4. What you can do right now to help solve this problem? Do you need to talk to a lawyer? Do you need to gather some information? Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t.

  5. It’s great to talk, but even the most well-meaning conversations are not going to be much help if they serve only to highlight your worst fears. Find out what can you do to build up your resilience, courage and good judgment.
