Chris is a skilled negotiator and draughtsman, and an expert in trusts and litigation. He cut his teeth in the 1990s on commercial and resource management work before moving back to Dunedin in 1997.

On joining Lucas and Lucas, he helped many people form and review family trusts, and he developed an ongoing interest in relationship property. In the 2000s, he built up the firm’s reputation for immigration work, and has any number of war stories from his time spent helping Indian nurses. Chris and Garth have developed a strategic approach to problem solving, advocacy and dispute resolution which has seen the firm clock up an enviable track record. He has successfully resolved a wide range of complex commercial and relationship property disputes.
